A native of British Columbia Rothery had always had a dream of being a professional. Her first professional stage appearance came at the age of thirteen and was dancing in the show Bye Bye Birdie. The show won her the Most Outstanding Performance Award for her role in Annie Get Your Gun, a production by her theater company.
